Working from home on some days is the biggest blessing in our universe. On other days, it's the biggest curse we've ever brought upon ourselves. Quite often these days are the same days at different points in time. The affiliate marketing mommy is aware of the need to be both a professional marketer in one moment and Dr. Mom, Chef Mom, Soccer Mom, and countless other incarnations of mom in the next.
What we do not always know, at least not as readily as we'd like, is how to make it easier for the two to coexist. Technology is a blessing. We can now take Blackberries to baseball games, text message in the carpool line, and multitask on laptops (with a WiFi) while our children enjoy playdates at McDonald's or Chuck E. Cheese's.
The problem is something that those who work outside the home have figured out all too well. The mommy and the marketer both need office hours.
Sometimes you need to give in and go climb through the tubes at Chuck E. Cheese with your little ones. You need to be fully involved in the text you are sending or the story your child is telling about his day at school. You can't give 100% to both at the same time so TAKE TURNS!
It's a novel approach and mommies have been struggling with this since the dawn of time. No matter what we do for our children we wonder if it's the right thing, enough, or if we're going to miss out on doing something even better for them by sacrificing the hear and now.
The problem is the hear and now is so fleeting. What's the solution?
Well it all starts with small steps. If you are struggling with the learning curve to be an affiliate marketing mommy, get help.
I recommend Wealthy Affiliate University to anyone who wants to get involved in affiliate marketing and make it work. I especially recommend it to moms like you who have more important things to do with your time than waste it on a learning curve. It is worth paying the monthly membership for the knowledge you gain and the time it cuts off the learning process. This leaves you important time to enjoy the playground without lugging the laptop around.
The next thing I recommend is to set office hours and stick with them. Two things will happen as a result. You'll be more productive during your office hours because you have family time to look forward to when your "work day" is done. The other benefit is that your family can have a definite time each day to get you back. They will be happier too.
There is no hard and fast rule that says the mommy and the affiliate marketer can never mix but if you keep them separate whenever possible you will discover that you are able to do a better job of both.

Affiliate Marketing Basics - 5 Things Tin Cup Teaches About Affiliate Marketing
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Andi_Bullock]Andi Bullock
If you want to make money online there are a few affiliate marketing basics that could go a long way towards making sure that you are able to bring in the money month after month. You can find inspiration in all kinds of strange places.
One great place to find all the inspiration, motivation, and advice you really need to get your affiliate marketing business off the ground is Tin Cup. If you haven't seen this flick I highly recommend it but you might want to keep the kiddos out of the room when you do (there is some language and at least one scene that shows a little more flesh than you may want your little ones to see).
So, what are these great affiliate marketing basics you can learn from watching the movie Tin Cup?
"A little bit is better than nada". Sometimes we get so focused on the fact that we're not hauling in piles of cash that we forget to celebrate the small trickles of money coming in month after month. It's a learning process. You should take the time to learn as much from the little successes as from the big ones.
Grip it and rip it. Sometimes you've got to stop analyzing, scrutinizing, investigating, and studying. Sometimes you just gotta get out there and let one fly. You never know what will happen until you get out there and make something happen.
Using highly technical terms. You will hit that wall. You will reach a point where you feel you don't know where to turn or what to do to fix whatever it is that ails you. Those highly technical terms aka four letter words are an integral part of affiliate marketing basics because you must learn to move past them in order to see the light on the other side. Besides, they sometimes make you feel better after you've been fighting with Fantastico or trying to get an FTP to work for an hour only to have your computer shut down on you. Not, of course, that this has ever happened to me.
"It never occurred to me to try." Why is it that we have a tendency to make things much more difficult than they need to be? Why on earth would you swim upstream and fight the current when you would get much better results by following a well laid plan?
Sometimes you just have to keep swinging away to make that one amazing shot. Sometimes you have a winner but you just haven't figured out how to hit it just right. If you know your product is solid and your niche is starving for it then you might just need to keep swinging until you find the "sweet spot". As far as affiliate marketing basics go this is one you can take to the bank. [http://www.squidoo.com/learnaffiliatemarketingstrategies ]Affiliate marketing basics can be found in surprising places. What Happens When the Affiliate Marketer and Mommy Collide?
Ever have those days when you feel as though you are being pulled in a thousand different directions? By the end of the day you feel as twisted as a pretzel, as intelligent as a scarecrow, and about as brave as the cowardly lion. All you really want to do is dissolve into a pile or tears and soak forever in a warm bath while the world is locked far away.
You will face many of these as an affiliate marketing mommy. Making the decision to work from home is a difficult one for many. We all come to this decision from many different directions. Most of us can agree on one thing we feel an incredible amount of pressure to succeed. To prove to the world that we are indeed worthy and that we can have it all.
Maybe you were one of the women out there burning bras not too terribly long ago. Maybe you've left the corporate rat race for a more sedate pace. You might even be one who was bent on a career until motherhood gave you a new calling. Wherever you are coming to the role of affiliate marketer from your goal now is to find balance and peace in that role.
For some this is a job in itself. There is the need to be mommy that is constantly at battle with the need to provide for your family financially and also to have something that is yours. Something you can be proud of.
Your affiliate marketing efforts in their own way become your children too. You are proud of them when they succeed and want to show the world. You are crushed when they fail and want to nurture them into the successes you believe they have the potential to be. You pour your heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears into the building of a successful campaign and it is hard to send it out into the great big and bad World Wide Web to see if it can stand on its own merit. When it succeeds though, the pride is immeasurable.
The next time you feel like a pretzel for your efforts at giving 100% to being an affiliate marketing mommy, when you feel as though you are failing at both, what you really need is to step back, take an afternoon, day, or even a weekend away from affiliate marketing and just be mommy.
You need to feel as though you are giving your best effort to both in order to be the success, in your mind, that you really want to be. The most important thing about being an affiliate marketing mommy is that you find the time to be the mommy you want to be to the living breathing children at home.

What are the Benefits of Affiliate Marketing?
If you are like many moms looking for ways to make money from home you may wonder what the benefits of affiliate marketing are and why it is being promoted as such a good match for work at home moms.
The problem finding work at home jobs for many moms is that they either require certain set hours every day, extensive phone work, pestering family and friends to buy products, or calling people all over the country trying to get them interested in joining you in your attempt to make money online.
But, what are the real benefits of affiliate market that make it different from any other work at home job or business.
No Boss for your Work at Home Efforts
This is huge for women who have always had someone looking over their shoulders, criticizing, demanding, pushing, and prodding. You are in the driver's seat and determine the pace at which your business progresses. Of course this can be a drawback if you need a little push to get you going sometimes.
Work at Home - No Phones Required
You have no idea, unless you've tried doing phone work with kids under foot how huge this particular benefit is. Affiliate marketing requires little other than the occasional technical support phone call. There are no long drawn out phone calls to clients, potential business partners, or motivational phone seminars to attend. You can actually unplog your phone from the wall (if you can live that way) and your affiliate marketing business would not likely suffer one bit.
Low/No Start Up Costs for Affiliate Marketing
One of the biggest benefits of affiliate marketing for moms is that there are very few start up costs involved. There are many ways you can begin your affiliate marketing with making an investment at all. It is a lot of work but the effort and knowledge gained from the experience often make fair compensation.
Best Benefit of Affiliate Marketing - No Scheduling Conflicts
Perhaps the biggesst benefit of affiliate marketing for moms is that you do not have to work during certain times of day. You can grab thirty minutes in the morning before the kids are up, an hour or two in the afternoon while they nap, and a few minutes after everyone is in bed and accomplish a great amount. It's not about the number of hours you put into your affiliate marketing business but the amount of work accomplished during those hours that matters most. No worries over weekend soccer tournaments, sick days, snow days, or even mental health days spent at the mall (you might even be able to afford an afternoon or two at the mall after you've learned the affiliate marketing basics).
If these benefits of affiliate marketing aren't enough to make you consider this as a way to bring in a little extra money each month for your family, I don't know what will be. I do know that I can't think of a better way to make money from home and I've tried most of the options available. Why don't you get started today and explore the benefits of affiliate marketing for yourself and find out if this is a viable option for you?
